Breakfast at Susan’s was an excellent choice. Upon entering, the first thing we saw was a gleaming bakery counter with Northwest goodies including Marionberry scones and cranberry orange muffins. Cinnamon rolls dripping with gooey frosting and other just-baked wonders caught my eye on the way to our table.
The little bistro had outdoor seating on a patio surrounded with flowers, and indoors, the wood window-seat type booths were perfectly shined in the chalet-style, high ceilinged dining area. Hard wood floors, open beams and lots of windows gave the shop a very subtle, comfortable stylish feel that was impeccably clean and inviting.
We had great, fast service, although our server was not particularly gregarious (he may have been a little shy). Our breakfast (again, oatmeal… with naughty baked goods on the side) was fresh and tasty, and the coffee was strong and robust. The pricing was reasonable for most items ($2.50 for a cinnamon roll) but a little high for the egg combination dishes ($8.99 for 2 eggs and bacon). There were only a few lunch and dinner choices on the menu but they sounded interesting and sophisticated - One of the lunch specials of the day was Homemade Clam Chowder in a Breadbowl topped with Bay Shrimp, but was not available until later in the day.
I would definitely go back here again, to try the lunch or dinner options and to maybe sit in a booth in the sunshine and read a book – or write a review.
Rating: Sunny. Sparkly. Deliciously naughty baked goods. Just above Great
